A mother was terrified after her neighbor played pornography through her baby daughter's night light.

Dawn Lothian, the 29-year-old Edinburgh mom, said she heard 'loud moans' coming from her child's room after putting her daughter to bed.

She was sitting in the living room when she heard the noise that evening. The young mother panicked and immediately ran to her daughter's room to see what happened.

"I muted the TV and went through to where my daughter was sleeping, and right enough, I heard the noises of it, and I couldn't believe it," she said.

"I shouted my partner through to have a listen as I was in shock. Luckily my baby is far too young to understand what was going on," Lothian added.

Fortunately, the moaning sound wasn't coming from someone stationed inside their home. They found out that the noise came from the family's LED projector, which intended to project stars onto the child's bedroom ceiling.

Her neighbor accidentally came across Lothian's daughter's bedtime aide and connected a device to the projector's speaker via Bluetooth. As a result, the LED projector made loud, disturbing noises instead of soothing lullabies.

"It was the first time this had happened..." said Lothian, who was taken aback by the situation. The mother, who works as a pharmacy dispenser, left a note in her block of flats' stairwell the morning after the ordeal. She pleaded with the unknown neighbor to disconnect their device to her child's night light.

"Whoever was watching porn last night @ 11.30pm has connected their device to our babies nightlight, can you please disconnect ASAP, thanks," the note reads.

Nobody has come forward to claim responsibility for the incident. However, Lothian thinks dropping the note was successful because such an incident never happened again.

This story serves as a warning that parents should carefully check the devices they place in their children's room, security experts claim. If you can't avoid using your gadget all the time, experts suggest turning your device's visibility off to prevent other devices from seeing your Bluetooth name.

They also advice using a security code when pairing your gadgets with another Bluetooth device. If the other device doesn't know the security code, it will not gain access to your device.
