Univision just announced their new programming slate for next season and it includes a dark telenovela tentatively titled "Mujeres De Negro." The production is based on a series from Finland called "Mustat Lesket." Although actual filming has not started, casting for the drama is already underway at the Televisa studios in México. One of the names that are ringing to star in this project is Silvia Navarro. The actress was last seen in "Mi Corazón Es Tuyo" playing the lovable Ana Leal who was a nanny by day and exotic dancer by night. Navarro took some time off from television to give birth and bond with her baby boy. She has previously starred in telenovelas like "Amor Bravio" and "Cuando Me Enamoro."
Another familiar face set to return to television is Eduardo Capetillo. The actor confirmed to Televisa Espectaculos that he was in talks with producer Carlos Moreno to star in "Mujeres De Negro." Capetillo had left Televisa when he was offered new opportunities at competing network Azteca. If he lands the gig, it would mark his return to the company where he first became famous.
According to Juan José Origel's column, other names that are being linked to "Mujeres De Negro" include Leticia Calderón, Alejandra Barros, Leonardo De Lozanne, Marcelo Córdoba, Mariana Seoane, Gaby Zamora, Pedro De Tavira, Lumi Cavazos, Alejandra Ambrosi, Javier Gómez, Mayra Rojas and Eduardo Arroyuelo. No word yet on when production is set to start but it is rumored that the series will premiere in the U.S. first. Univision would program it following the finale of "Yago."
"Mujeres De Negro" features strong female characters who develop a radical plan to take control of their lives. Vera, Johanna and Kirsi have had enough of being taken advantage of and have joined together to kill their husbands and seek out new adventures. Finally free, the ladies did not expect that these new adventures would include close calls with both the criminal justice system and the criminal world. This dramatic tale will use dark humor to answer the age-old question: Is it possible to start again? And if so, at what cost?
