Muhammad has been named the most popular baby name for boys in a historic first for England and Wales.
The name first entered the top 10 most popular names for boys in 2016 after it made the top 20 in 2012. But this is the first time it has beat out Noah, a running favorite, which ended in second place. Rounding out the top three was Oliver, per The Guardian.
Muhammad was the most popular name in four out of nine regions in England, including London. Variations of Mohammad, an Arabic name meaning "praiseworthy" or "commendable," make it the most popular name in the world, according to Letter Solver.
Other popular names included George, Leo, Arthur, Luca, Theodore, Oscar and Henry. New to the top 100 list were Jax, Enzo and Bodhi, as reported by The Mirror.
The most popular name for baby girls is Olivia for the eighth year in a row, while Amelia and Isla came in second and third, respectively.
