The MTV Video Music Awards are underway in Brooklyn with your favorite stars in the music industry. The celebrities have made their way down the red carpet with their most fashionable looks. We saw Katy Perry with a skin-tight outfit, Lady Gaga with a black ensemble, Rita Ora with a long long long train and Miley Cyrus with an out of this world outfit. Also during the preshow we were able to see Snooki showing off her new slim body in an outfit that did not suit her well due to the length of it, which made her look even shorter than usual. Another left field celebrity was Richard Simmons who we are not too sure what he is doing at the music award ceremony as he has been irrelevent for a while now, still his presecene added some zany excitement.
Lady Gaga opened up the main show with an outfit that was right in Gaga's realm, a square head. Then her backup dancers came to her rescue and stripped her off from that hideous ensemble to put on sparkly skirt and jacket and a wig that made us recall her origins. While performing "Applause" she had another outfit change onstage and complete stripped off all her clothes to reveal to star-shaped pasties to cover her breasts and a barely-there bikini bottom. Gaga's performance was full of energy and has set the bar high for the rest of the performers of the show. The VMAs have started and we will be here all night commenting on the night's winners and with tidbits on the performances. Refresh to get the latest news and comment with us on your favorite moments:
One Direction made their way to the stage to present the first award of the night. "We may be British, but tonight we are celebrating Brooklyn New York," Harry Styles. The director cut away to Taylor Swift as she chit chatted with Selena Gomez.
BEST POP VIDEO: Selena Gomez for "Come and Get It"
SNL's Vanessa Bayer came onto the stage as Miley Cyrus fooling us all as the announcer said it was the actual Cyrus. We had to do a double take on that one. Bayer then presented the actual Miley who burst onto the scene that was inundated with big and cute teddy bears. Miley's performance consisted on her tapping on girls behinds and twerking while singing "We Can't Stop." We think she should've stopped because she then took off her leotard to reveal a skimpy little piece under. Robin Thicke then came onstage to sing "Blurred Lines" while Miley touched his junk with a foam hand and procceded to twerk in front of him. Then after 2 Chainz made his presence heard with his own part while Cyrus faded in the background with more sexual movements. This was frankly extremely disturbing.
Next to present was Lil' Kim who was excited that the VMAs were in Brooklyn, her hometown. The artist was there to give an award for "Best Hip Hop" video, which went to Macklemore ft Ryan Lewiz & Wanz.
Kevin Hart said he was not the presenter this year, he just wanted to take some things off his chest. Kevin congratulated Lady Gaga on her opening number. Hart also advised Miley to get a pregnancy test after her number and made fun of Robin's penguin looking suit. He also warned Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez to stay away from Thicke or else they would end up in an Amber alert.
Jared Leto came onstage to present the next performer ... Kanye West. What is up with all that auto-tune? Sounds like Cher, not Yeezus.
BEST FEMALE POP VIDEO: Taylor Swift, "I Knew You Were Trouble." She thanked the person that inspired the song because now she has a moon man to show for it. The director then cut to Harry Styles who joined the audience in clapping after Swift's acceptance speech.
Jimmy Fallon introduces Justin Timberlake as the "President of Pop," could this be the 'N Sync reunion we've all been waiting for? We are first treated with a medley of Justin's best tracks like "SexyBack," "Like I Love You," and "Señorita." Then it actually happened, the five boys were reunited, 'N Sync was back on-stage and we were transported back to the year 2000. Justin finished off his medley singing "Suit and Tie."
Kevin Hart came back onstage and reiterated that he was not the host and said J. Timberlake "killed it" performing for 20 minutes. He also mentioned that 'N Sync was mad that they only got to sing one song, but that it was a good thing as they looked out of shape and tired. He also claims to have heard Joey farting.
BEST SONG OF THE SUMMER: "Best Song Ever," One Direction.
Austin Mahone wins the "Artist To Watch" award and thanks MTV and God. "Second, I want to thank my mom, she raised me as a single mother, thank you mom."
Taylor Swift has the task of presenting Best Male Video, which goes to Bruno Mars for "Locked Out Of Heaven." Then after the long commercial break it was time for Mars to perform his new single "Gorilla," presenting him was Taylor's BFF Selena Gomez.
VIDEO OF THE YEAR: Justin Timberlake, "Mirrors"
Katy Perry finished off the night performing Roar under the Brooklyn bridge on a stage that looked like a boxing ring.
