A woman and her two children were killed after a three-story house collapsed on them in India’s Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 26, in the Bekanganj area of Kanpur city. Authorities have not identified the cause of the deadly accident.

According to reports from the local media, the woman, in her mid-30s, and her two children died at the scene after the first-floor roof of the house collapsed on them.

The woman’s husband sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment, police said. No updates were available about his current condition, however, doctors who examined him said that he is expected to recover soon.

"The husband, his wife, and their two children lived on the ground floor of the house. The house collapsed in the morning after which a fire brigade team and local police officials rushed to the spot and pulled out the family members trapped in the rubble," the New Indian Express quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kanpur East), Anoop Singh, as saying.

"They were rushed to the Ursula Hospital where doctors declared the wife, the son, and the daughter (both minors) dead," Singh said.

The deadly incident is being investigated, police said. The police have not publicly identified the victims and no updates were available on the ages of the deceased children.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 17-year-old boy who made a dunk and held onto the shaky basketball hoop died after the structure collapsed on him. The incident happened on July 26, at a basketball court near Block 18 Bedok South Road in Singapore.

"I saw a lot of people crowding around the court. The boy was lying there with a lot of blood and people were resuscitating him," a resident, who wished to be identified only as Ms.Yap said.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the scene and found the teen lying unresponsive in a pool of blood next to the fallen structure.

He was transported to Changi General Hospital (CGH) where he was later pronounced dead. The deceased teen was a student of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) East.
