An 18-year-old high school cheerleader is facing felony charges of promoting prostitution and sex trafficking after she allegedly shopped her younger, mentally disabled teammate to prospective clients.

According to ABC Minnesota, Montia Marie Parker created on-line ads for the younger student and would even drive her to see those interested in the offered services, with Parker bringing in $60 on one occasion. Parker, a senior at Hopkins High School in Minnesota, allegedly set up a Backpage.com ad for a 16-year-old and drove the younger student to a location where she was to provide oral sex to a customer who replied to the ad. While authorities believe this is where Parker pocketed the $60, it is also reported that the duo went to another home the next day but left the house after the man refused oral sex.

Backpage.com is a common website for juvenile prostitution and as FOX News notes, the FBI received certain information regarding the alleged prostitution this past March and did not wait long to meet with the younger victim and her mother. The girl's mother learned of the situation when she saw a series of text messages between her daughter and Parker.

Checking the phone because she noticed a serious change in her daughter's attitude and because she was told her daughter had an unexcused absence from school, the girl's mother immediately reported her cell phone findings to police.

Authorities located Parker on April 4th and read her Miranda rights. She then admitted to knowing the younger teenager and that she did create the on-line advertisement. In addition to those confessions, Parker admitted that her ad received a lot of calls shortly after it was posted on-line. According to the International Business Times, President of the Minnesota Juvenile Officers' Association Minneapolis Lieutenant Kim Lund says that it is not uncommon for teenagers to frequent the Backpage website although minor prostitutions cases are rare.

Finding out about the alleged incidents in quick fashion, Hopkins High School issued a statement assuring all those involved with the Minnesota school can continue to feel safe while noting that Parker was removed from campus.

Although these events did not occur on school grounds, these charges are very serious. When we learned of them, we acted immediately to ensure the safety of all Hopkins High School students. In responding to this incident, we followed our discipline and safety policy, which includes permanently removing a student from campus. Whether an incident occurs on our campus or not, student safety is always our top priority.

Free on $50,000 bond, 18-year-old cheerleader Montia Marie Parker is set to appear in court on June 12th.
