A woman's gruesome remains have been retrieved by the police after she was allegedly stabbed to death, chopped into pieces, and disposed of in garbage bags next to a river by her own daughter. The accused seemingly also tried to kill her brother in a fire, authorities said.

Lucy Fox, 39, allegedly killed her mother Judy Fox, 65, a retired nurse, in the kitchen of her home in Shifnal, Shropshire on June 12 last year. After killing her, she reportedly used her mother's bank card to buy a ready meal, whisky, and bin liners. She later used the bin liners to dispose of her mother's dismembered body parts, the Daily Mail reported.

The remains were reportedly dumped in the undergrowth in woodland close to the River Severn and Ironbridge Gorge in Coalport. Police officers discovered Judy's severed head and other body parts scattered around the area in garbage bags four weeks later on July 10. Judy's torso and arms have still not been found.

Fox was later arrested and charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life. The Stafford Crown Court deemed on Monday, July 19, that she was unfit to be tried, Birmingham Mail reported.

Prosecutor Kevin Hegarty QC reportedly told the judge that Fox had bought two knives from a Dunelm store before driving to her mother's home. He said that she later set fire to a doormat to kill her brother and that she also confessed to both crimes when she was arrested.

When the police reached the home after reports of fire, they found blood splatters over the ceiling, walls, cupboard drawers, and back door. The police also found a lump hammer, a saw, an axe, and two knives nearby.

The police searched for Judy along the River Severn areas and her remains were finally found at around 10:30 a.m. on July 10. Later, the police found a garbage bag containing Judy's severed head hidden in the undergrowth, according to Shropshire Star.

When the police arrived at her doorstep, Fox reportedly confessed to killing her mother and attempting to kill her brother. Hegarty also added that there is evidence that she set fire to the doormat in an attempt to kill he brother.

The elder Judy worked as a staff nurse at the Shropshire Star and Express and Star for 13 years. A tribute was reportedly released by her family describing her as "a wonderful mother and a devoted grandmother."
