A Papillion, Nebraska mother may serve up to 102 years in prison after being slapped with multiple child abuse offenses related to her 11-year-old daughter's sleepovers with friends where the suspect coerced two boys into taking marijuana-infused gummy bears before performing lewd sexual acts with the minors, the Sarpy County Court upheld on Monday.
The sex offender, Christina Greer, 38, was convicted in March of three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child involving two boys ages 12 and 13, six counts of felony child abuse, as well as two counts of witness tampering, KLIN reported.
She was sentenced by the court to serve between 64 and 102 years of jail time for the crimes committed between 2017 and 2018 after Greer handed the children alcohol and marijuana-infused gummy bears during sleepovers at her home, according to Sarpy County prosecutors.
The Associated Press noted Greer had groomed two of the boys into having sex with her, ordering her victims to remain silent about the ordeal and to get rid of the pictures from their phones to avoid detection of the recurring sexual abuse.
Law enforcement later retrieved sexually explicit photos of Greer from one victim’s phone, court documents show.
“The victims had to go through a lot, to put it lightly,” prosecutor Phil Kleine from the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office said. “I hope that, with the court’s sentence, the victims will be able to find some form of closure and be able to move forward with their lives.”
Meanwhile, a drug-dealing mother and daughter tandem has avoided jail time despite being caught selling cannabis from their BMW at their Leicestershire village home, according to Yahoo! News.
The suspects, Sharon Chapman, 47, and her daughter Lauren Chapman, 25, were seized by police after they were spotted dealing drugs in August last year. Authorities had their properties searched, where a stash of cannabis was found along with £1,150 (US$1,592.80) in cash.
The daughter was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work. Meanwhile, the older Chapman was hit with a 12-month community order. Both were ordered to take part in rehabilitation activities and pay £525 (US$727.21) in costs.
