The 2-3 Milwaukee Bucks travel to American Airlines Arena in Miami on Tuesday night to face off against the 4-3 Miami Heat as the two-time defending NBA champions ease into a five-day stretch during which they only face the Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks. Lebron James has surely welcomed the rest. The Heat are coming off a 111-110 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday after which James said his back had been ailing him. "I'm not 100 percent; my back is not where I want it to be," James told reporters after Saturday's loss to the Celtics. He had been questionable for the game but still managed to rack up a game-high 25 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds on 9-for-13 shooting. "But I could still be effective. I thought I was. I just didn't make enough plays to help us win." Despite the Heat's unremarkable record so far this year - they're dropped games to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Brooklyn Nets and the Celtics - James has been playing well, and over the last four games he's been shooting 61.7 percent.
Saturday night's loss against the Boston Celtics fell to a large extent on the broad shoulders of Dwayne Wade, who could have sealed a Heat victory with two free throws in the closing seconds. Wade missed the first and, while trying to intentionally miss the second by banking it off the rim to run out the clock, he missed the basket entirely, setting up the Celtics' Jeff Green, who hit a miracle, game-winning fade away three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left in the game to steal the game from Miami.
The Bucks will face an uphill battle on Tuesday evening against a squad which has had its number - the Heat swept the Bucks out of the playoffs in the first round last April, during which Miami made short work of Milwaukee, beating them in every game by a double digit margin. With that sweep included, the Bucks have lost six straight and eight out of the last nine to Miami. On Tuesday, they'll enter shorthanded as well: frontcourt starters Larry Sanders and Ersan Ilyasova have missed the last two games with thumb and ankle injuries, respectively.
