The Bucks lost to the 76ers in Philadelphia on Friday 110-102. Giannis Antetokounmpo struggled from the free throw line, shooting 4-15 from the free throw line. Frustrated with his performance, Antetokounmpo went back on the court to shoot free throws postgame.
This is where the drama begins. After making several free throws, 76ers big man Montrezl Harrell came over and took ball after a shot was made. Harrell walked away with the ball and he shared words with Antetokounmpo. Harrell was reportedly upset that Antetokounmpo was preventing him from getting work in.
According to reports, Giannis’ brother, Thanasis, then came onto the court to talk to Harrell. Harrell then left the court with the ball. Giannis proceeded to go to the locker room and returned with two more balls hoping to continue his postgame work. By the time he returned, arena workers had placed a large ladder right in front of the basket.
Video shows Giannis walking up to the ladder and pushing it out of the way, leading it to fall on the ground. He finished his routine and left for the locker room, visibly upset.
The incident didn’t lead to any fines or suspensions for all parties involved. Still, the situation was a bizarre one as it isn’t unheard of for opposing players to put up shots in opposing arenas post-game.
