Mexican television host and producer Memo del Bosque died on April 7 at the age of 64, following a years-long battle with cancer. His family has shared details about his final days and the severity of his illness.

Del Bosque had been diagnosed with more than 20 tumors before his passing, marking the return of Hodgkin's lymphoma, a disease he had previously overcome in 2017. Despite undergoing treatment, recent medical tests revealed that the cancer had returned aggressively.

The producer traveled from Mexico to Brownsville, Texas, where he received medical treatment. He ultimately died there, surrounded by his loved ones.

Memo del Bosque's legacy

The producer and host became famous for being the main face of the Mexican music-focused television channel TeleHit. From there, he supported the development of rock in Spanish, especially the work of Mexican bands like Caifanes and Molotov, who are still active today.

At Televisa, he was responsible for the development of stars such as Adal Ramones and Omar Chaparro, who publicly mourned him. At the time of his death, he had been married for years to Vica Andrade, the mother of his three children. His first wife was the host Mónica Noguera, who is now part of the cast of Imagen TV.

In 2017, when she recovered from her first experience with cancer, Del Bosque said that when she asked her doctor where her cancer was, the response was, "You're over 20, like 22 or 23," she recounted in an interview.

Her cancer was of the lymphatic system, so it had spread to different parts of her body. Although no further details were given, it is believed that it presented in the same way.

Memo del Bosque's farewell

The producer said goodbye on his social media with an emotional message.

"Today I want to share that I have reached the end of my life. Cancer was a very tough battle that I fought with everything I could, but God has decided that this disease will not hurt me anymore."

"I thank God for allowing me to continue living since I was diagnosed in 2017, and for being able to enjoy my children, Vica, and my entire family. I thank my friends who never left. Thank you for all your love."

"It was a long journey of experiences and emotions that I am grateful to have experienced and shared with each of you," he added. "Now I have finished the fight, my struggle is over, and now I am a new being who rejoices in the presence of its creator. The earth sings, the heavens worship, and all shout that you are holy, my Lord."
