Melania Trump reportedly isn't too keen on her husband Donald Trump running for president in 2024, and wants to stay away from limelight.
Since departing Washington in January, she has been leading a low-key life and was seen publicly just once this summer while leaving Trump Tower in New York City, according to CNN.
According to Raw Story, the former First Lady, whose son Barron goes to high school, has retreated back to Mar-a-Lago from New Jersey, and is busy with her duties as a mother.
Several people said that Melania has lost interest in the public political life, and doesn't intend to support her husband's political ambitions. One of the insiders, who had a close bond with Melania, said, "Being first lady again is not what she wants." According to that person, the White House tenure was a chapter for Melania, and it's over.
Another person, who is aware of it, said that she won't be seen at campaign events or rallies even if Trump officially says that he is running again for presidency. "Instead it's going to be Lara (Trump, the wife of Trump's son, Eric) or (Kimberly) Guilfoyle (the girlfriend of Trump's eldest son, Don). They have that same urge Trump has to (run) again; Melania absolutely does not."
Trump has continued to hold rallies where it has become common for the former President to convey his absent wife’s well wishes to people, reported News.com.au. At February’s Conservative Political Action Conference, he passed along greetings, saying his wife “says hello” and that she “loves you as much as I love you”. At another rally in North Carolina in June, he told the crowd Melania “sends her regards."
In February, a new Twitter account was created on behalf of Melania, and the opening of The Office of Melania Trump was announced.
The account is full of tweets and retweets related to Melania, including her 'Be Best' initiative that promoted children’s well-being, or clarifications issued on her behalf.
She uses her own Twitter account relatively less, with just posts on important days like the Memorial Day or Independence Day.
She last tweeted on Aug. 27 in connection with the Marine heroes who were killed in Kabul.
