What was behind Melania Trump's decision to wear a Gucci blouse with a necktie commonly known as a pussy bow to the second presidential debate, held Sunday, Oct. 9?
Two days previously her husband Donald Trump was the center of attention for all the wrong reasons after the release of an 11 year-old video recording by The Washington Post.
In the recording, Donald Trump chats with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush about women while on board a bus on the set of Days of Our Lives. Among the things Trump says:
"I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn't get there, and she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony tits and everything." (It's not clear who Trump was talking about.)
"I'm automatically attracted to beautiful [women]—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."
Trump and Bush remark on the attractiveness of Days of Our Lives actress Arianne Zucker while she's waiting outside the bus. When they exit the bus, Bush asks Zucker to give both of them hugs.
After the release of the recording, Trump apologised on video and his wife slammed his use of the word, pussy. However, by Sunday all was forgiven in the Trump camp as Melania arrived at the debate with the rest of the Trump family.
Tha candidate's wife looked as polished as ever in a hot pink Gucci blouse with matching pants. E-commerce site Net a Porter describes the item as "Pussy-bow silk crepe de chine shirt" costing $1,100. It further explains that "Pussy-bow shirts are one of Gucci's signature silhouettes. New for Pre-Fall '16, this fuchsia style is cut from silk crepe de chine for a languid drape. We think it's a chic way to elevate office or weekend looks".
Exactly why did she choose that particular blouse with that particular necktie?
