A former aide of the U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that his wife, Melania Trump, is planning to divorce him once he is out of the White House.
In her book “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” Omarosa Manigault Newman claimed that the couple is likely to split after Trump gets out of the White House. Newman was once Trump’s assistant and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison during the Trump. She resigned in December 2017.
“In my opinion, Melania is counting every minute until he is out of the office and she can divorce him," Newman mentioned in her book. She further said that if Melania were to pull the decision during his time in the office, Trump would find a way to punish her.
The description further reveals that even though Melania wants to leave POTUS, she cannot do that because of the threat from Trump mentioning that he will expose how she acquired her permanent U.S. citizenship. Newman further described him threatening Melania that he would go ahead and invalidate her citizenship if she leaves him.
Newman’s claims have been shrugged off by Stephanie Grisham, the Chief of Staff to the First Lady.
“It’s disappointing that she is lashing out and retaliating in such a self-serving way, especially after all the opportunities given to her by the president,” Grisham said in a statement, adding that Newman rarely interacted with them and therefore, there is no way she could know or have any inside information about Melania’s relationship with the president.
In the past, Melania, on the other hand, has seemed pretty confident in public concerning her relationship with Donald Trump.
During the launch of her jewelry line in the past when Trump was identified as a business tycoon and not as POTUS, Melania revealed in an interview how the dynamics of the relationship between them are such as it had made their marriage work despite more than two decades of the age gap.
"Sometimes they say love is hard to find. When you meet the right person everything seems fantastic. We work very hard, both of us. It’s a lot of responsibility for a woman to be married to a man like my husband. I need to be quick, smart and intelligent,” she had said.
