Meghan Markle reportedly owns more royal jewelry than Kate Middleton does. Although Prince William’s wife has been a duchess seven years ahead of the former “Suits” actress, it was said that she only accumulated about 60 pieces of heirlooms, while the Duchess of Sussex now has 91 pieces of stunning royal gems.

According to Daily Mail, Meghan collected jewels amounting to £600,000, and these are just for the 18 months that she has been part of the royal family. Her jewelry consists of 35 pairs of earrings, 26 rings, seven necklaces and 23 bracelets.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s collection includes Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring, which costs about £300,000, which is probably the most expensive item she has. She also has the “Saudi Suite” that Diana received as a wedding gift from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia, and the set includes a necklace, a pair of earrings, a ring and a sapphire watch.

The reason Meghan has more royal jewelry haul than Kate is because she received many pieces from Princess Diana’s collection, and one of the most expensive is a £75,000 aquamarine cocktail ring that she wore on her second wedding reception last year. As per Vogue, this is considered as one of her most prized possessions and was said to be a gift from Prince Harry. The ring is also the duchess’ “something borrowed.” Lady Di wore it in 1997, just two months before her death.

The Duchess of Sussex also owns £60,000 Cartier drop earrings that feature an 18-carat gold filled with 19 diamonds and 10 valuable rectangular stones. Another Princess Diana item that is part of her royal jewel collection is a pair of butterfly earrings worth £2,300. The Princess of Wales wore this in 1996, when she visited Canada as part of her royal duties.

Meghan also has items from Queen Elizabeth’s vault. Her Majesty gave her a set of £4,275 pearl and diamond earrings as a gift. She used this when she accompanied the Queen for an official visit to Cheshire in 2018.

After the Duchess of Sussex gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, she attended the Trooping the Colour event and was seen wearing a jewelry piece known as the eternity ring, which was reportedly valued at £4,350. This is said to be Prince Harry’s gift for their first wedding anniversary and is believed to have been crafted by Harry Collins, Queen Elizabeth’s personal jeweler.

Commenting on how the royal gems are being handed down for generations, a jeweler noted that this just shows how diamonds can withstand the test of time. “The Royal Family is one of the best examples of how diamond jewelry can stand the test of time, be passed down from generation to generation, and only grows in emotional and intrinsic value over the year,” Grant Mobley said.
