Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are treading a new path, as they step down from their royal duties and plan on spending considerable time in Canada with their eight-month-old son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. While the Duke of Sussex is taking a “leap of faith” as there were really no other assumptions; speculations are rife that it was a different reason altogether which egged Meghan on to step back from the royal life.
As per royal expert Omid Scobie, Meghan assumed that marrying into the royal family came with instant popularity followed by the honeymoon phase and the rights to falter every now and then. The reality, however, felt like a bolt from the blue—Meghan had to put her act together and she failed to keep up.
“[She thought] you start in a good place and there is this, no matter what, there is a honeymoon period that comes with marrying into the royal family that allows you to falter at times, or figure something out, or whatever it is,” said Scobie. “I think that that was one of the key things, and I think that towards the end she felt she wasn't given that by the press or members of the royal family, by aides or courtiers within the households,” she added.
The realities of being a royal hit sooner than expected, and the “struggles” seemed a little too overbearing for the allegedly naïve Meghan. The same was evidenced in the explosive ITV’s documentary, “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey”.
The documentary sheds light on the royal couple who clearly seemed to be struggling under intense media scrutiny. Meghan admitted that she “naively didn’t get” the level of scrutiny she’d be subjected to, in the royal family.
Implicitly expressing the same, Meghan said, “I never thought that this would be easy, but I thought it would be fair and that's the part that's really hard to reconcile.” Meghan also revealed that she didn’t quite see herself developing a stiff British upper lip as it could be pretty messy for her mental health in the long run.
Fast forward to now, and a beaming Meghan was snapped taking her son and two dogs for a stroll in Vancouver before Harry landed in Canada on Monday.
