Meghan Markle’s bold demeanor sets her apart from the others in the royal household. The former “Suits” actress amassed a lofty fan following, and her innumerable fan pages testify the same. Turns out, the royal household recently broke a rule in her (fan page’s) favor. However, the “like” didn’t last for long, and it got netizens into a tizzy.

The royal family’s official Twitter account, which currently has 4.1 million followers, doesn’t “like” posts by fans or members of the public. But this rule was bent in favor of Meghan Markle’s fan, who goes by the username Ann Boleyn.

Throwing in a bit of context, the user, who’s a member of the fan account called TudorChick1501, posted a tweet. Surprisingly, the royal family’s official Twitter account “liked” it.

“These anti-Meghan trolls are all the same: they pine for ‘the good old days,’” said the account. “She was genius to title her Vogue issue ‘Forces for Change.’ We are witnessing a seismic shift in power and culture, and her haters are furious and terrified,” the account added.

The royal family account usually posts matters concerning the family, such as pictures from royal engagements and videos, updates and pictures from Buckingham Palace. The “like,” which came as a surprise, however, didn’t last long as the official account unliked it. Whether the account unliked it on purpose or the whole thing was a technical glitch is what is yet to be seen.

This act comes as a surprise for two reasons. Firstly, it’s against royal protocol to like anything on a fanpage. And secondly, Harry and Meghan’s revelatory documentary, which was hosted by Tom Bradby, evoked worry within the royal household. Royal expert Phil Dampier opined that the interview’s explosive nature had left senior royals “from the queen down” concerned.

Aside from dropping some really volatile statements implying how she was warned against dating Prince Harry, Meghan also implied that she was only “existing” and that the last year was tough for her.

The interview also saw Prince Harry speak about the growing disparity between him and his brother, Prince William. The Duke of Sussex maintained that he and William are on “different paths.”
