A.B. Quintanilla was proud to announce his new career venture when he signed to DEL Records --- the music label company that is owned by Angel Del Villar (Chiquis Rivera's boyfriend) --- earlier this month. Although fans were unsure of what his move meant, Quintanilla assured that everything he does musically is to keep the Quintanilla dream alive. Something now tells us that part of that dream has to do with Quintanilla's new musical group called Elektro Kumbia.
The former founder of Los Kumbia Kings and Kumbia All Starz revealed that his new cumbia group is on the way and ready to take the music industry by storm. DEL Records, according to TVyNovelas, will be in charge of promoting the up-and-coming group and launching their debut album.
Besides working on the group's production, the former Los Dinos bassist and brother of the late Selena Quintanilla, will serve as producer and composer for other DEL Records artists, such as Luis Coronel, Gerardo Ortiz, Regulo Caro, Banda Culiacancito, Fidel Rueda, Diego & Gabriel, King Lil G, Grupo Fernandez, and many more.
Elektro Kumbia has yet to make the rounds with a first single, but this is everything we know so far!
- The group's name, Elektro Kumbia, represents a new, fresh sound.
- There are eight members in the group, including A.B.
- The other group members are: Nick Banda (keyboard), Ruben Rea (guitar), Zuriel Ramirez (vocals), Alfonso Ramirez (vocals), Ramon Vargas (vocals), Liz Juarez (percussion, vocals), Saul Cisneros (drums)
- Two of the vocalists are actually twins from Veracruz, Mexico: Zuriel and Alfonso.
- We speculate that the musical project began sometime in 2014.
- According to A.B., it took two years to prepare the group's first album.
- In fact, they took their time to create a production of good quality, reports TVyNovelas.
- The band's official Facebook page was created in November 2015.
- On December 2015, the band announced that "something is coming."
- They kicked off 2016 revealing that the album and official photos are ready.
- They also revealed a music video to premiere in 2016.
- They can be found on social media as @ElektroKumbia.
