Matt Lauer's horse farm has drawn the ire of one of Long Island's most popular towns. The "Today" show host has already come under fire for a number of on-air issues including a recent controversy as to whether he angered his cohost so much she allegedly flipped Lauer off.

Officials in Southhampton, N.Y., are none too pleased with Matt Lauer's horse farm. The 40-acre farm contains a building that has caught the attention of the town's zoning board. Zoning laws prohibit Lauer from constructing a dwelling on the farm property. The town issued a stop-work-order after the horse farm's neighbors reported the building of a dwelling-like structure on the property. Matt Lauer allegedly was trying to build a swanky home for his farm hands and trainers, under the ordinance's clause stating that "structures necessary for agricultural-related business" my be constructed.

Lauer's representatives maintain the hype is overstated: "When tearing down the old office they found rot. We need to fix the roof before work can begin again," they told the New York Post. Matt Lauer's folks also said that there was no ongoing spat with the Town of Southhampton.

Matt Lauer's entire Southhampton property is reported to be worth $3.5 million.
