"Super Smash Bros." creator teases fans with cryptic tweet. Nintendo

The creator of "Super Smash Bros.," Masahiro Sakurai, has taken to his Twitter to tease gamers about the new entry in the Smash Bros. franchise IGN's website reports. The forthcoming title that was revealed back at E3 2011 has been scarce in the news department until now.

Since we can't read or speak Japanese we took to Google translate and here is a rough translation of what Sakurai-san tweeted, "Please take note: on the Nintendo Direct broadcast on June 11, we will be showing the first images of our new Smash Bros -- simultaneously, worldwide, at the same time."

At the beginning of the year Sakurai-san revealed that both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the Smash Bros. game will be making an appearance at E3, and since Nintendo isn't really doing a traditional E3 presentation we've been expecting to see some news in the Nintendo Direct Broadcast.

It is unknown exactly what will be shown and since the tweet is in Japanese it's safe to assume that the word images could be game stills, game play or even a trailer. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the latter.

The next Nintendo Direct broadcast is set to air June 11 at 7:00 a.m. PDT.
