President Trump and his administration are currently busy questioning and undermining the CDC and Dr. Anthony Fauci, pointing out their mistakes and stressing how they shouldn’t be trusted when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. Many have criticized this current stance of the U.S. government, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who has expressed his disappointment over how the pandemic is being poorly dealt with.
In an interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg expressed his frustrations over how the Trump administration had been managing the crisis by rushing into reopening the country, even when experts like Fauci strongly recommended against it.
"As someone running a business, I've said that I believe the best way to improve both public health and economic opportunity in this country is to focus on beating this virus first," he said.
"I think you might be quite generous in your description of the government's response here," he told Fauci. "Now I was certainly sympathetic early on when it was clear that there would be some outbreaks no matter how well we handle this, but you know now that we're here in July, I just think that it was avoidable."
Zuckerberg went on to call out the lack of adequate testing and the government’s pointless at undermining “the credibility of top scientists like yourself and the CDC”.
“Until recently, parts of the administration were calling into question whether people should follow basic best practices like wearing masks,” he said, hinting at how, until recently, Trump had opened criticized wearing masks.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is the country's top infectious disease expert and has been highly trusted by the public when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. But not only is the White House administration but also the President himself is pushing to sabotage his credibility. Like, recently, during a phone interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Trump took a jibe at Fauci's track record throughout the pandemic, purposefully making comments, and stressing that the immunologist has made a lot of mistakes."
Trump also retweeted a post of former Wheel of Fortune host Chuck Woolery, which claimed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, many doctors and the media are "lying" about the pandemic to cook up a “conspiracy” to ensure that Trump loses in the elections.
