Maripily Rivera has cancelled her wedding with her fiancé Albert Rodríguez to look after her son Joe Joe. In an interview with Huffington Post, the Latina model spoke candidly about the difficulties of being a single mother and entering into a new relationship. The 'Huracán Boricua' revealed that above all she is a mother and that her priority has to be with her son. Rivera has assured fans that her relationship with Rodriguez remains strong.
Maripily Rivera spoke openly to Huffington Post Voces. "Everyone knows that before anything else I am a mom and Joe Joe is my priority. He became very rebellious after his spring break holiday in Puerto Rico and he told people at school that his dad was going to come and get him in two weeks and take him back to the island," she said in the inteview. "I found out through school and when I confronted him, he said that yes, he wants to go with his dad and he threatened some extreme measures that scared me."
"Today and always my priority is my son and everything else comes later. No sacrifice is too big if it means the happiness and stability of my Joe Joe. I'm not in a mental state to think of a wedding, nor in the preparations and even less so if I know that my baby wants to leave my side," Maripily Rivera explained. However, she also assured fans that it has nothing to do with Albert and that it is an act of rebellion, pure and simple. "I need to be sure that my son and I are happy before I can be happy in a marriage."
