Secretary of State Marco Rubio is being mocked online for his body language during the clash between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. counterpart Donald Trump along with Vice President JD Vance.
Rubio, who didn't intervene during the heated exchange, looked uncomfortable as he sat back on the couch alongside Vance. Even though he later thanked Trump on X, saying he was "standing up for America in a way that no President has ever had the courage to do," many in the online world claimed it didn't seem like he wanted to be there.
Thank you @POTUS for standing up for America in a way that no President has ever had the courage to do before. Thank you for putting America First. America is with you!

Here's a look at some of the comments sparked by Rubio's behavior:
Marco rubio today stands for everything he was supposedly against. Did he change his mind on world affairs or does he just wants power? https://t.co/2TTQuz4AT5

Marco Rubio is that kid in school who knows it’s wrong for the bully to pick on the weaker kid but doesn’t say a word to stop it. https://t.co/WdHz1UNNil

Zelensky left the White House on Friday after the public clash, in which Trump and Vance accused him at the Oval Office of being "disrespectful" and not thanking the U.S. enough for support sent throughout the war.
The heads of state were supposed to sign a deal centered on U.S. access to Ukraine's rare minerals, seen by observers as a first step toward potentially ending the war with Russia. The deal was not signed following the heated exchange, with the White House saying Zelensky and his delegation were told to leave after the incident. They didn't have the planned lunch with their U.S. counterparts either.
What did @marcorubio think was going to happen when he took a job working for a guy that spent years calling him "Lil Marco"? https://t.co/iXMOyQwvmR

The aftermath of the clash is dominating headlines worldwide, with European leaders voicing support for Zelensky, while Trump allies defend the U.S. president's behavior.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sent a comforting message to Zelensky, telling him and his "dear Ukrainian friends" that they are "not alone."
Spanish President Pedro Sanchez issued a similar message, saying "Spain stands with you." French President Emmanuel Macron, on his end, said he believes "we all were right to have helped Ukraine and sanctioned Russia three years ago, and to continue to do so."
You literally could do a daily picture of Marco Rubio swimming in the misery of knowing he gave away a longterm Senate job only to get none of the prestige of being SoS and all the responsibility for letting kids and Ukraine die. https://t.co/UFTEQdy3Q5

Zelensky also reacted to the clash: he thanked Trump, Congress "and the American people" for their support. "Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that," Zelensky added in a publication on X after leaving the White House.
