A man in Canada died in a "freak accident" after he was run over by his own car at a McDonald’s drive-thru.

On Wednesday, Sept 8. Vancouver officers and Fire and Rescue Services responded to the food chain’s drive-thru outlet at 1527 Main St. after receiving a call reporting an accident.

Surveillance footage obtained by the local media shows the driver accidentally dropping his bank card out of his vehicle while paying for his order. When he got out to pick up the card, the vehicle rolled forward and forced the driver to a structural piece of the restaurant.

The man was stuck between the vehicle and the structure.

Despite multiple attempts, he was unable to free himself from between the vehicle door and frame.

"Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically, he died on scene," said Const. Tania Visintin.

"This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man," the officer said.

According to CBS, the shocking incident happened while his family was in the vehicle.

The Vancouver Police Department's Collision Investigation Unit and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the fatal accident.

19-year-old JauMarcus McFarland, a Missouri resident, also died In a similar ‘freak accident’, after an elevator at an apartment malfunctioned pinning him between two floors.

The teen football player got jammed between the falling cab and the third floor of the building on Sept.1, afternoon.

According to Channel 11 news in Atlanta, three teen football players including McFarland were taking the elevator on their way to practice when witnesses say the elevator stopped and opened on the third floor,

Two of the players got out but when McFarland tried to exit, the elevator fell crushing him between the top of the elevator and the floor of the shaft.

Horrified witnesses immediately called 911 as the teen’s legs dangled to the second floor below, the report said. McFarland became unresponsive and eventually died after rescuers worked an hour to free him, the Journal-Constitution said.
