The winter transfer window is just a few weeks away and rumors have it that Manchester United may be the busiest of all the clubs during the short period clubs can sign players. Of all the rumors we hear circulating around Europe at the moment, the biggest might be the fact that United’s blockbuster summer transfer, Radamel Falcao, could be out the door sooner rather than later.

The Colombian striker was signed by Man U on loan from Monaco for the entire summer, however the 28-year-old has been hampered by injuries for over a year and still has not looked anything like the player he was before his knee injury. That’s if he can even get on the pitch at all. So far on the season, Falcao has only played in a few games leading to the speculation that Louis Van Gaal and the United brass have seen enough.

Falcao hasn’t started a game in two months, only coming off the bench as a substitute when he does see the pitch. According to former Southamption star, Matt Le Tissier, Falcao could be sent back to Monaco this January, and if not, Manchester United will certainly not purchase the Colombian next summer.

“I think if Falcao tends to miss games on a regular basis, it will put teams off wanting to sign him permanently. Perhaps he won’t be there and Robin Van Persie you will have to assess as the season goes on,” said Le Tissier

Additionally, the Daily Express are also reporting that Manchester United is not interested in retaining Falcao’s services and will make a major push for Real Madrid’s defenseman, Raphael Varane. The Frenchman, Varane, is one of the youngest and most talented center backs in the world, but for some reason, Carlo Ancelotti has opted not to start him in Real Madrid’s back field this year. Instead, Ancelotti has played Sergio Ramos and Pepe leading to the belief that Varane is expendable.

It’s no secret that Manchester United is in need of major defensive help and Varane would certainly be a welcome addition. Falcao has been extremely expensive for Old Trafford and Varane will cost United around $30 million. If they can sign Varane and rid their hands of Falcao, I think Louis Van Gaal would sign on the dotted line right now.
