Thanks to earning a draw with Chelsea in the club's second Premier League match of the season, Manchester United remains in the top 5 as far as the early league standings are concerned. Led by Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, Manchester United played a tough match against a talented Chelsea team on Monday in Greater Manchester, England. Chelsea currently paces the League with 7 points thanks to victories over Hull City and Aston Villa so the fact that Man U earned a draw with The Blues certainly showed that David Moyes is capable of competing at a high level in his first season on the Old Trafford sideline.

Manchester United controlled the possession battle, spending 55% of their time with the ball and despite the fact that the Red Devils fired off 12 shots with 3 attempts making their way on goal, Man U was not able to slip anything by Chelsea keeper Petr Cech. Chelsea also struggled to get on the scoreboard, throwing 4 shots on goal but much like Cech, Man U's David De Gea did his job to perfection from start to finish Monday evening at Old Trafford.

"I though we played very well today, we just couldn't get the final pass or the final cross to finish," David Moyes said to NBC reporters after the match. "They made it hard for us to score but it will always be a tough game against a good opponent. It's upsetting we didn't go in and get multiple points but I'm happy with the effort and with the overall way we played tonight."

Moyes can certainly be proud of the way the club played in his first Premier League match at Old Trafford and the same can be said for Monday's opponent Jose Mourinho. The 50-year-old said after the match that he was pleased with the play of his squad even though they didn't capitalize on some attack opportunities.

"In terms of attack we didn't do all we could," Jose Mourinho said post game. "We obviously wanted to win but we did not do everything we could."

Robin van Persie and the Red Devils had an opportunity at the end of stoppage time to break the scoreless tie but after a corner kick from van Persie was sent in low, an assist from Nemanja Vidic to Wayne Rooney wasn't completed when Rooney misfired with his right footed attempt from the center of the box.

Man U will now begin preparation for a road trip to Liverpool on September 1 while Chelsea gets set for the UEFA Super Cup against Bayern Munich on August 30.
