A Texas man who had been sleeping with his own sister allegedly beat her to death with a baseball bat after he found out that she had sex with another man.
Jose Manuel Guzman, 32, who was allegedly in a sexual relationship with his own sister, has been accused of brutally beating her to death with a baseball bat in the Canutillo home they shared after he learned that she had sex with a male friend who visited a night earlier, New York Post reported.
After bludgeoning the victim to death, he then tried to mop up the blood in the home and fled the scene as he heard law enforcement officers approaching the residence. However, Guzman was arrested shortly after and was slapped with a murder charge. He is now in jail with a $1 million bond.
According to the prosecutors, Guzman is reportedly from Guatemala and a legal U.S. resident, although he is not a U.S. citizen. The suspect reportedly lived in El Paso since he was 3 years old and only recently came to know that he had a sister in Guatemala. Guzman and the victim reportedly met a year ago and subsequently began a sexual relationship. They then moved into the Canutillo home where the murder took place.
Guzman was a drug dealer with several criminal charges against him. He has raps from a 2017 case where he was accused of breaking a man’s arm with a baseball bat and smashing his windows. In addition to these charges, he also has several previous family violence and drug possession cases against him.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a 14-year-old boy allegedly repeatedly raped his 7-year-old sister before proceeding to strangle her to death as he was scared of getting caught by relatives in Pakistan, Latin Times reported.
A missing complaint was lodged at the Bada Ghar Police Station by Abdul Ghafoor, the victim's father, a laborer in Chak No 3/53, alerting that his 7-year-old daughter had gone missing from their house.
The officers later found the missing girl's body in a field near her home village the next day. An initial investigation into the incident revealed that the victim had been raped before she was strangled to death.
As part of the investigation, the police reportedly searched more than 150 suspects from Chak No 3/53 and nearby villages, collecting their DNA samples. When the samples were sent to a Lahore laboratory for DNA testing, the DNA sample of 14-year-old Saqlain, the victim's brother, reportedly matched with the sample obtained from the girl's corpse, indicating his involvement in the murder.
Once Saqlain was interrogated by the investigators, he reportedly confessed to strangling his 7-year-old sister to death after sexually assaulting her for several months. Saqlain admitted that he choked her dead, fearing that he would get caught by his relatives.
