A man unleashed his pit bull dog on football fans who were celebrating Brazil's win over Switzerland in Beirut, Lebanon on Monday, Nov. 28.
Brazil defeated Switzerland with a score of 1-0 in Monday's match at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Following the victory, fans celebrated Brazil’s win over Switzerland near the army checkpoint in the Al Sfeir area in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs. Seeing the fans block the road in celebration of Brazil’s win, a man unleashed his pet pit bull on football fans, 961 reported.
A video of the incident has been circulating online.
According to the video, the dog can be seen attacking a young man and biting him in the leg while his friends try to get the dog off him.
The dog reportedly tried to attack a girl who was present at the scene. However, the girl managed to escape without suffering serious injuries. The group of men successfully freed the man from the grabs of the dog with some difficulty. After freeing the dog, one of those present shot and killed the dog.
Following this, the injured young man was taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the dog’s owner fled the scene.
In a similar but unrelated incident, an 89-year-old woman died after she and her 12-year-old grandson were brutally attacked and mauled by two pit bull dogs at a Colorado home on Wednesday, Sept. 14, as previously reported.
Officers from the Golden Police Department were dispatched to a home just west of Denver on Sept. 14 after they received calls informing them of an animal attack. At the residence, local law enforcement found a trail of blood leading into the home. The officers immediately went to the backyard and found two pit bull dogs brutally attacking an 89-year-old woman.
The officers immediately tried to use tasers and "less lethal shotguns" to separate the dogs from the victim. However, the officers were unsuccessful in their attempt as the dogs circled around the officers each time they approached the victim.
Following this, additional personnel responded to the scene to help and managed to hold the dogs off while emergency services attended to the woman. The victim, who suffered critical injuries in the attack, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite undergoing treatment at the hospital for several days, the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries and died on Sunday morning, Sept. 18.
