A man in India allegedly stabbed his mother to death after she refused to cook egg curry for dinner.
The shocking and bizarre incident happened Monday, Nov.22, night, at the victim’s home in the Jharsuguda district of Odisha.
The accused son, Rajesh Bhoi has been arrested for the murder of his 45-year-old mother, Kumudini Bhoi, Jharsuguda Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Nirmal Mahapatra said on Tuesday.
According to local media reports, Rajesh, a daily wage laborer, had returned home after work with some eggs from the market.
He reportedly asked his mother to cook some egg curry for dinner.
However, Kumudini refused to do so, saying she had already prepared dinner and that she will cook the eggs some other day. A heated argument broke out between the two during which, Rajesh, in a fit of rage, attacked Kumudini with a sharp weapon. He repeatedly stabbed his mother on her head and neck, sources said.
Kumudini’s brother-in-law and neighbor, Hemsagar Bhoi rushed to the spot after hearing her screams and saw her lying unresponsive in a pool of blood. He then alerted the police.
“A case under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been registered and Rajesh Bhoi has been arrested. A scientific team was called upon for a detailed investigation of the crime spot and the dead body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem,” said the SDPO.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a drunk man shot his mom and teen sister dead because he was not happy with the food that they had cooked for him.
The accused, identified as 24-year-old Manjunath Haslar, a resident of Kodagu village allegedly murdered his 42-year-old mother Parvathi Narayana Haslar, and his 19-year-old sister Ramya Narayana Haslar at their home in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India on Wednesday, Oct.13, after a heated argument over not cooking tasty Sambar ( a lentil-based vegetable stew) for dinner.
The shocking double murder came to light when the accused's father returned home and found his wife and daughter lying unresponsive in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries.
His screams alerted the neighbors and the police were called to the home.
Manjunath was arrested without incident on Thursday, Oct.14, police said.
