A 52-year-old man is now in the hospital weeks after getting vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. He was identified as Francisco Cosme who was administered the vaccine last Mar. 6 at the Javits Center.
The man who hails from New Jersey continued to observe the proper protocols after he was vaccinated. This included wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines. However, it came to a point where Cosme began doing things that were not normal according to his daughter, Michelle Torres.
“April 1 was the very first day he started to have symptoms,” Torres said. “He had a cough, fever, chills, everything.”
When Cosme’s condition was getting worse, Torres drove his father to a clinic. It was here where it was found that the 52-year-old was COVID-19 positive and instructed to quarantine for 10 days. However, his condition went from bad to worse last week with Cosme reportedly having trouble breathing.
Torres called 911 and sought aid for his dad over at their home in Edison, New Jersey. The responders brought the 52-year-old to John F. Kennedy Medical Center where he is no in critical condition. He is also being treated for pneumonia.
“The doctor said they did all they can do it and it’s up to him to fight and up to God,” Torres said.
As a result of the development, Torres added that she and other members of the family also tested positive for COVID-19. That included her husband, children and her mother. They are now in quarantine until next Sunday.
“We survived the whole year without it [vaccine] doing all the things we are supposed to so do — social distancing, washing hands and masking up,” she explained.
It has yet to be medically explained if the reaction is tied to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Most are aware that reactions could be tied to certain health conditions and an explanation is being awaited.
This development comes not long after a woman from Brooklyn also got the COVID-19 vaccine after also being administered the Johnson & Johnson vaccine last Mar. 10, also at the Javitz Center.
