A neighborhood over in Lincolnshire got a bit rattled recently after local authorities descended following reports of a man covered in blood was found in the streets. It turns out that the man was slashed in the neck in a daylight attack.
Armed police officers arrived at the neighborhood in a seaside resort after witnesses saw the bloodied male victim on the pavement. Paramedics were also at the scene in Skegness, Lincolnshire on Wednesday afternoon. The scene of the crime was taped off with heavily armed officers standing guard.
Authorities were alerted to the scene after receiving a report of the alleged attack, Lincolnshire Live reported.
The victim was in his 30s and suffered a slash-type of a wound to the neck. However, his injury was allegedly not life-threatening.
Arrested in connection to the incident was a 23-year-old man who is under the suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an assault, police claim.
"A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH following an assault in Ida Road in Skegness on June 23,” a police report read. "We received a report that the male victim, a man in his 30s, received a slash type wound to his neck during the incident.”
The 23-year-old suspect remains in police custody and will undergo questioning. Further details on the case remain unavailable.
"He remains in custody and will be questioned in due course," police stated.
Local authorities are calling on the public for help with regard to the matter. Anyone who may have added useful information to the incident can call 101 quoting incident 342 of June 23.
This comes not long after it was reported via the Lincolnshire Police website that a 38-year-old man has been jailed for more than 20 years for the murder of a man named Paul Barnett.
He was identified as Paul Bodell who reportedly stabbed Barnett to the side of the chest following an altercation. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years and 95 days at Lincoln Crown Court. He was convicted of murder following a 13 day trial in April.
