A man has been accused of killing his wife before proceeding to boil her remains in a cauldron in front of his six children in the Sindh province of Pakistan on Wednesday, July 13.
The accused, identified only as Ashiq from Bajaur Agency, who reportedly works as a watchman at a private school in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, lived with his family in the servant quarters of the school that has been closed for the past eight to nine months.
On Wednesday, July 13, after a heated confrontation with his wife Nargis, Ashiq allegedly suffocated her to death with a pillow. In a bizarre turn of events, he then boiled her body in a cauldron in the kitchen of the private school where he worked. He allegedly committed the horrific act in front of his six children, Hindustan Times reported.
The incident came to light after the victim’s 15-year-old daughter called the police after Ashiq fled with three of his children following the harrowing murder.
The police currently have custody of the other three children, according to District East Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdur Rahim Sherazi.
“They are shaken and traumatized,” said SSP Sherazi.
After the police responded to the scene, they found Nargis’s body inside a cauldron in the kitchen of the private school. One of the victim's legs had also been severed from her body. The officers have sent the victim's remains to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem examination.
The motivation behind the murder has yet to be determined. According to a preliminary investigation, it is speculated that the husband forced his wife to engage in illicit relationships in exchange for money. However, when she refused to do as he demanded, he then murdered her by strangling her to death in front of their six children, the Indian Express reported.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspect and recover his other children safely.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat after suspecting her of having an extramarital affair in Pune, Maharashtra, India on Tuesday, April 12, Latin Times reported.
The unnamed 30-year-old suspect reportedly suspected his 25-year-old wife, an office worker, of having an extramarital relationship with a colleague at her workplace.
On Monday, April 11, the husband proceeded to a police station and filed a complaint against his wife's male coworker, accusing the unidentified man of forcibly luring his spouse into an affair and claiming he was ruining their marriage.
However, the next day, on Tuesday, April 12, the man seemingly decided to take matters into his own hands and allegedly strangled his wife to death before proceeding to slit her throat inside their residence.
The suspect was arrested later that same day and charged with the murder after his neighbors discovered the gruesome crime scene.
