Man Fights With Wife Over Cooking Mutton, Kills Neighbor For Interfering In The Fight

A man reportedly killed his neighbor after he interfered and tried to stop the fight the accused was having with his wife over cooking mutton in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The accused, identified as Pappu Airhwar, brought home some mutton and wanted his wife to cook him mutton on Tuesday, Oct. 18. However, his wife, belonging to the Hindu community, refused to cook mutton as Tuesday is considered an auspicious day for Hindus and they do not eat non-vegetarian food on this day, India Today reported.

However, Pappu felt enraged over his wife's refusal. Following this, Pappu started shouting at his wife and a heated argument ensued between the couple. Hearing the noise, Pappu's neighbor Billu went to their house, to solve the fight.

Billu intervened in the fight, settled the issue, and returned back home. However, hours later, Pappu went to Billu's house and landed a blow on the back of the victim's head with a heavy stick. When the victim fell on the floor, the accused hit him with a stick on his face, East Coast Daily reported.

Hearing the screams, the victim's neighbors rushed to the scene. Seeing the neighbors approach the crime scene, Pappu immediately fled the scene.

Following this, the neighbors alerted the officers about the incident. The officers responded to the scene and took Billu to a hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following Billu’s death, based on the statement given by the victim's wife, the officers lodged a complaint against Pappu and arrested him on the same day under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

A detailed investigation is going on in connection with the case.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man stabbed his wife to death due to anger for not preparing chicken for his dinner in Davangere, Karnataka, India on Tuesday, June 7, as previously reported.

The accused, Kenchappa, arrived home in an inebriated state and noticed that Sheela had not prepared chicken for his dinner. Kenchappa immediately confronted Sheela and a shouting match ensued. The heated argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation as Kenchappa grabbed a knife and stabbed Sheela with it. Sheela, who suffered grievous injuries from the stabbing, succumbed to her fatal injuries and died.
