A Michigan motorcyclist was killed in an accident after his girlfriend rear-ended him with a car.
On Monday, July 26, deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to Leforge Road north of Clark Road in Superior Township after receiving reports of a crash.
Responding officers found the 35-year-old man on the ground with serious injuries. Emergency services transported the injured man to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
According to the investigators, the victim was northbound on Leforge Road and his 29-year-old girlfriend was following him in a car.
The police have not publicly identified the victim and his girlfriend. Though further details weren’t available at this time, the crash is being investigated as an accident, police said.
Investigators believe the girlfriend crashed into the rear end of the victim’s motorcycle. The woman is suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
The victim’s body has been sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. The exact cause of death will be revealed once the autopsy results are out.
It is also not known if the woman has been taken into custody. Police said the two lived together in Ypsilanti.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were available at the time of this writing.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a couple was dismembered beyond recognition after they were struck and run over by a truck. The deadly incident occurred on July 20, in the city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The victims, 50-year-old Ravi Surya Rao and his wife, Satyavati were traveling to a family member’s home when a speeding truck came from behind and collided with their scooter.
The couple was thrown off the vehicle and to the road after which the truck wheels went over the duo instantly killing them.
Onlookers alerted the authorities and emergency responders were dispatched to the crash site. The responding officers gathered the scattered body parts of the couple and transported them to a medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. It is unclear whether the truck driver has been taken into custody.
