A man being detained by US immigration enforcement officers during deportation raids in Chicago recognized the person questioning him as Dr. Phillip McGraw, or TV's Dr. Phil.

Thai national Sam Seda was arrested and taken into custody on Sunday night after openly admitting to not being a U.S. citizen. Dr. Phil, joined by President Donald Trump's newly appointed border czar Tom Homan and other immigration enforcement officers, was present during the arrest, questioning Seda after he was taken into law enforcement custody, reported WBEZ.

Seda quickly recognized McGraw from his television show Dr. Phil, in which he invited on guests to assist them with interpersonal issues and other problems.

"Dr. Phil," Seda said, referring to McGraw.

"Yeah? How do you know me?" McGraw asked.

"No, I've seen Dr. Phil, you know, on TV," Seda explained.

Dr. Phil continued to question Seda on the nature of his past crimes.

"You've been charged with sex crimes with children?" McGraw asked Seda after being told by Homan that Seda was "illegal alien convicted of sex crimes involving children".

"Not really," Seda responded.

"Not really?!" said Dr. Phil incredulously. "And never been deported?"

"Nope," Seda continued.

"Let's take him in, process him, and lock him up," Homan then instructed the other enforcement officers present.

Seda, who admitted that he was not a U.S. citizen but added that his mother was, was then detained.

"Again, the downfall, the problem with a sanctuary city is that people like this [are] walking the street rather than having law enforcement working with federal agents," Homan explained to McGraw as they began taking Seda into custody. "This is what we're dealing with."

McGraw informed his following of the raid with a post before he officially stepped out with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

"It's a pretty high-risk mission we're going on. This truly is a targeted ICE mission, because they're not sweeping neighborhoods like people are trying to imply," the TV host said.

"These are known criminals and terrorists. We're talking about murderers, child traffickers, child rapists. We're talking about bad actors, both in the countries they've come from, and since they've been here in the United States."
