There is still no sign of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that vanished three days ago. There have been many leads but none has really given any real sign of what went wrong. Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, director general of Malaysian Civil Aviation Department said that the expanded search area now covers a larger part of the Gulf of Thailand between Malaysia and Vietnam. The oil slick that searchers thought might have been from the plane turned out to be fuel oil typically used in cargo ships, according to Rahman. Also the plane door and tail that had been seen turned out to be untrue. In the press briefing Rahman said "Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, we have not found anything that appear to be objects from the aircraft, let alone the aircraft.”
No emergency signal has been detected by any search aircraft. The passengers’ family members are being told to expect the worst. Rahman also said "For the aircraft to go missing just like that ... as far as we are concerned, we are equally puzzled as well. We have to find the aircraft.” So the whereabouts of this aircraft and the true identities of some of its passengers remain a mystery.
There is a concern that it could have been an act of terrorism due to the issue about the passports but officials said it was still too early to arrive at any conclusions. Illegal immigration could be a reason for those stolen passports. Rahman also said in the briefing that five passengers ended up not boarding the plane. Their bags were not on board when the jet disappeared. When asked if the plane could have been hijacked he responded “We are looking at every angle, every aspect. We are looking at every inch of sea.” That the flight might have been a test run for a terrorist organization to plan a later attack is just speculation. Stay tuned to the updates of the ongoing mystery of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
