Just like that, “Lupin” has wrapped up part two of the hit series and the ending left viewers with a lot to think about. After vindicating himself and his father, Assane Diop (Omar Sy) finds himself running from authorities who have forced him to temporarily distance himself from his family.
Hubert Pellegrini (Herve Pierre) and Gabriel Dumont (Vincent Garanger) were arrested and were set to be locked up. However, it would not be surprising if the two would end up finding a way to avoid being in jail, another potential twist that could happen on “Lupin” Part 3.
But through it all, the third part of the series will likely see Diop trying to turn things around. And don’t be surprised if he gets help from an unusual ally he made in Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab).
Recall how Diop masterfully used Guedira to unearth the wrongdoings of Pellegrini and Dumont. He was a key pawn in the arrest of Dumond and Pellegrini thanks to Assane’s leads and clues.
Another angle is that Guedira is also well-versed with “Lupin.” This could help him understand Diop better and probably know what his next plan is. But to do that, he needs to keep a dual identity since the police want to collar the gentleman thief.
Beyond that, there is the family of Diop to be considered. Because of his ability to evade anyone during tight moments, he is likely to continue seeing Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and Raoul (Etan Simon). It won’t be easy but he did tell them that he would always be watching in the season finale.
Pellegrini, at the least, will not be sitting behind bars. He will find a way to get out and it won’t be surprising if help comes from his daughter, Juliette Pellegrini (Clotilde Hesme). This could be on bail with Juliette using her own money (possibly the funds from the charity) to bail out his father despite the sins he committed.
That included a plot to steal the funds from the charity event which Diop and company foiled and sent to the account of the foundation. Also, worth monitoring here is where Juliette would side. Will blood be thicker than water? Or will it be love over family?
“Lupin” part 3 is currently in development and no official release date has been announced.
