Luis Suarez has been one of the best soccer players in the world in recent years, for both club and country. His dazzling goals, amazing passes and prestigious awards have put him in elite company. There has however been some speculation on his future.
Suarez may have put that to rest, for now at least.
"I suffered a lot to make it here [Barca] and I want to enjoy it and continue fighting to complete my objectives, which is to win titles. I would love to retire here, but that obliges you to stay at the top level for your whole career. But I'm not thinking about that now. There are only a few privileged enough to retire here," Suarez said.
Suarez joined FC Barcelona in 2014 after four years in the English Premier League with Liverpool. Many soccer analysts had doubts on whether or not a Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar trio would work in Barcelona, but that South American triplet has more than proved their doubters wrong.
So far this La Liga season the 29-year-old Uruguayan has been Barcelona’s best offensive player. He leads Barcelona with six goals and three assists. Let’s also not forget that Suarez led all of La Liga in goals scored last season with 40, five more than Real Madrird's Cristiano Ronaldo.
Although a very talented and skilled player, Suarez has been the center of quite a few controversies on the field. His antics have in fact led to suspensions from the national team, however Suarez has behaved himself for the most part with Barcelona.
Neymar recently signed a 5-year contract with Barcelona, and Messi has said on numerous occasions that he wants to stay. If everything stays intact, Barcelona will continue to be a force in both Spain and in all of Europe.
