The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Dallas on Monday night to face off against the Mavericks in NBA Western Conference action. So far the injury-hobbled Lakers have managed to eke out a 2-2 record, and will come into Dallas of a close victory over the Atlanta Hawks despite the absence of star Kobe Bryant. The 2-1 Mavs are looking strong as ever, and will likely prove formidable opponents for the Lakers. Scroll down to catch a live stream link of the game when it tips off at 8:30pm EST from the American Airlines Center.

Against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, the Lakers played an incredible first half but just barely escaped with a win after blowing a 21-point lead with a poor second-half performance. 'There was a little bit of an energy drop in the second half and a lot of missed assignments, but we picked it up and a lot of guys made some good plays,'' Xavier Henry, who added 18 points in the victory, told the Associated Press. ''I don't want to say it was because we wanted it more, but you could tell. When the game was on the line, guys were like: 'We were already up 20. We were not going to let this one slip by.'" Henry acknowledged that without Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have been "trying to find the right combinations" and win while they do. ''We have a lot of new guys, and a lot of guys still need to learn how to play with each other," he said. "We're trying new lineups and stuff, so we're still going to be working and trying to compete."

The Mavs are expected to have another strong season, in part due to their size and strength - they're big enough that they could put 6'7 Shawn Marion on the Memphis Grizzlies' 6'1 point guard Mike Conley on Friday. Aside from future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki , they can count on Marc Gasol, who will be facing his brother Pau on Tuesday night. Marc Gasol had 23 points in Dallas' win, in which their lead reached 47-26 before the Grizzlies clawed back to within six points at halftime. Defense has been a bit of an issue for the Mavs this year - they're allowing an average of 107 points per game - but they've been making up for it on the other end of the court, with an average of 111.3 points after chalking up 111 against Memphis. Check out the Lakers and the Mavs here as they stream live tonight at 8:30pm EST.
