Lionel Messi, Barcelona forward, became all time leading scorer with 371 goals in all competitions including friendlies. He broke the record at Camp Nou. He passed Paulino Alcántara to become the greatest goal scorer . He is officially the greatest goal scorer in FC Barcelona history. The Argentine scored in the 63rd minute against Osasuna.He netted a hat trick when Barcelona beat their opponent 7-0.

Paulino’s record has held this record for 87 years, he had 369 goals in 357 official and friendly matched as a Barca player between 1912-1927.

The 26 year old overtook the record in 95 more games than Alcántara. His next feat is to take on the all-time clásico goalscoring record which is a record held by Alfredo Di Stafano. He has 19 goals and Messi 18 so could be broken next weekend when Barcelona faces Real Madrid.

He could also break another record and that is the all-time Champions League goalscoring record which is held by Raul Gonzalez with 71, while Messi currently has 67.

He thanked fans for their support on Instagram and posted a picture of himself. Some of his Barcelona teammates congratulated Messi using Twitter. Javier Mascherano tweeted “Congratulations Leo Messi. Top scorer in the history of FC Barcelona. Awesome!!” Great team! Photo with Leo, top scorer in the history of #barca #371 Huge!” Jordi Alba tweeted. And Christian Tello also tweeted “7-0 against Osasuna, I’m happy to help the team.
