Yesterday afternoon, Televisa host Laura Bozzo demanded journalist Carmen Aristegui her right of reply to discuss her visit to Guerrero, Mexico in the midst of the tragedy caused by Tropical Storm Manuel. As always, Bozzo took it to her talk show to express in the most loud and dramatic way possible how Aristegui had double standards and she wanted a rebuttal. She added that if Aristegui felt Bozzo was “too little” to go on her “prestigious show,” then she should go make a special appearance at “Laura.” Today, in response to this request, Aristegui asked Televisa’s Emilio Azcarraga and Bernardo Gomez, that such a requirement would be "made in written form"
On Thursday afternoon, Bozzo, started her program challenging Aristegui, whom she again accused of lying and being slanderous, to go back to Guerrero to help people, “but if you don’t want to go or help, I have another proposal: you say you are so equitable, so professional, you call yourself a journalist ... I ask, I demand you to grant me the right of reply ." This whole feud was prompted after Aristegui called Bozo out on her show because a report from Mexico’s “Proceso” magazine from journalists who were at the scene, said that Laura was only there to put on a show and she used the state’s resources when they could’ve been put to help the victims of the storm.
After Bozzo trashed Aristegui again, the latter took it to her morning radio show explaining, "Yesterday, the current prime driver reuses the main channel Televisa, concessioned by the Mexican government, to try to offend me, to take me to the middle of a grotesque spectacle, appealing now to the right of reply. It’s not a small deal that Televisa appeals to the right of reply, honestly, it’s kind of funny. How many politicians, citizens have demanded the right of reply to Televisa and to how many it has been granted? Does Televisa have the moral authority to demand loudly, because that’s how they did it in channel 2, for the right of reply?"Asked the reporter.
She went on. "In this case, the issue concerns the misuse of public resources in the State of Mexico, to display a tele-drama of the national tragedy regarding what has been discussed here from what was published by “Proceso” magazine via their website. Aristegui concluded: “To Televisa, who is directed by Emilio Azcarraga and Bernardo Gomez, I let you know that any requests you may have regarding this subject, you can send it in a written form.”
