On Nov. 20, 2014, the Latin Grammy's took place at Las Vegas. Actress Génesis Rodríguez looked exquisite on the red carpet, with her side-swept hair and old-Hollywood look. The gorgeous actress, who is also the new spokeswoman of L’Oréal Paris, had her look created by L’Oréal Paris Pro-Team Artist Rene Lam.
"Genesis wanted a vampy look with a modern twist," shares the brand about her look. "Rene mixed plum and bronze eye colors to create a subtle smokey eye. On the lips, Rene went with a burgundy color that matched well with Genesis’s dark red dress, but not taking too much attention away from her smokey eyes."
MAKEUP STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: For radiant looking skin, use Genesis’s favorite product, the L'Oréal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher ($24.99) which instantly minimizes the look of pores and helps create a dewy base.
STEP 2: Apply concealer under the eyes to brighten and spot cover any redness on the skin. Use the L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Concealer in Fair ($12.99) and gently dab with your fingers, spreading the concealer outward. *Secret tip: Rene applied it onto Genesis’s eyelid to create a smooth canvas for eye shadow application.
STEP 3: Gently dab the L'Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup in Sun Beige ($10.95) and seal with powder if needed.
STEP 4: To create flush in the cheeks, apply the L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Blush in Soft Peach ($12.99) and blend it with your fingers. This cream blush will blur dullness with sheer amount of color and also delivers a luminosity, which compliments well with the dewy complexion.
STEP 5: With an oval-shaped eye shadow brush, apply the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe ($7.95) and sweep it across the lid. Follow with the Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Eternal Sunshine ($7.95) (which will add a subtle gold touch) and start to blend it from halfway across your lid towards the right. Using a fluffy blending brush, sweep the Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Smoldering Plum ($7.95) onto the outer corner of the eye and the crease to create the smokey effect.
STEP 6: Add a winged line above the upper lash line with L’Oreal Paris Silkissime Eyeliner by Infallible in Black ($8.99). Lightly smudge it below the eye on your bottom lash line. *Secret tip: Rene used her pinky finger to lightly smudge the crayon.
STEP 7: Apply two coats of L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara in Black ($8.99) along top and bottom lashes for a “butterfly” dramatic effect that’ll last all night.
STEP 8: Lastly (and Genesis’s favorite part of her look) the lips. Line lips with L'Oréal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lipliner in Plum ($8.99). Fill it in with L'Oréal Paris Infallible Lipstick in Resilient Raisin ($9.99).
As for her hair, it was created by L'Oréal Paris Celebrity Hair Stylist Marcos Carrasquillo, who was inspired by Rihanna’s bobby pin from last year’s American Music Awards. "Marcos wanted to give Genesis Hollywood Waves with a modern take by using large bobby pins to hold her hair to the side," shared the brand. "Marcos expert senses say this will be the large trend for 2015 (large and colorful pins) that’ll not only hold the hair down but also accessorize it."
HAIR STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: Start off with dry hair. Spray a bit of the L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray ($4.99) at the roots to give it more texture and volume.
STEP 2: Separate your hair into four sections and apply L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Weather Control Hairspray ($4.99) directly onto the areas you will be curling (about from about 3 inches down from the roots and 3 inches from the ends).
STEP 3: Place a 1 inch to 1 1/4 inch barrel curling iron about 3 inches from the roots and wrap medium sections of the hair around the barrel. After each curl is done, bobby pin to around the head until all hair is curled.
STEP 4: Once all hair is curled, let the hair loose and part the hair to the side. For Genesis, Marcos parted the hair on her left side and added 8 large gold bobby pins.
STEP 5: Lightly comb the curls down and finish the look with the L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Strand Smoother Serum Spray ($4.99) for a glossy, frizz-controlled finish
TIP: To achieve an ombré similar to Genesis’s hair color, use the L'Oréal Paris Preference Ombré Touch in Light Blonde to Lightest Brown Hair ($9.99)
