Lara Trump was pictured at a Florida resort with Tiffany Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr's girlfriend on Saturday, as she continues to consider a run for the North Carolina Senate.
The aspiring senator was seen arm-in-arm with Trump's youngest daughter, and Guilfoyle, who had earlier served as a top official in the 2020 presidential campaign for Trump.
As Republican Senator Richard Burr steps down, Lara, the former president's daughter-in-law and wife of Eric Trump, hinted that she was considering a run for the North Carolina Senate next year. Lara, who is also a paid contributor at Fox News, previously said that she hadn't come to a decision yet, but she would decide soon. The network would have to cut ties with her if she decides to go ahead with the run for senate, People reported.
Lara recently joined the network as a paid contributor to enhance her political profile. She has been dubbed the future of the Republican Party by Republican and Trump ally Lindsey Graham, The Sun reported.
Lara, 38, is a native of North Carolina. She grew up in Wrightsville Beach and earned her bachelor's degree in 2005 from North Carolina State University. She moved to New York City shortly after to attend culinary school and has since worked as a chef, a personal trainer, and a television producer.
The possibility of a Lara's Senate run hasn't deterred other high-profile Republicans from jumping in, including former Gov. Pat McCrory and Mark Walker, who served in the House for six years before this January. Nevertheless, it is holding other potential candidates on the sidelines for the time being.
According to a poll published by Cygnal, Lara has a double-digit advantage in popularity over her potential contenders, The Hill reported. In an eight-way primary, Lara won 32.4 percent of the vote and had the highest net favorability rating of 66.6 percent.
“When my father-in-law decided he was running for president, I said to him, ‘Look, this is my home. I know the people in North Carolina, and I want to go down there. You can send me anytime you want,” Lara told Washington Examiner earlier.
Despite the fact that she hasn't lived in North Carolina in nearly 14 years, she made fond memories of her childhood in the state a core theme of her speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) last year.
Lara has always emphasized her humble upbringing in North Carolina. She has consistently highlighted the importance of winning North Carolina during Trump's 2016 campaign, offering her assistance in mobilizing voters in the state.
