Lamar Odom is having a tough week; Odom was arrested yesterday for allegedly driving under the influence during the early hours of Friday morning. Odom, the husband of Khloe Kardashian, was taken into custody and held at the Van Nuys police station on $15,000 bail but was released from custody at 8:30 am. The NBA star, 33, was pulled over at 4:00 am for driving too slow on the 101 Freeway in San Fernando Valley.
According to TMZ, Odom did not immediately pull over to police requests; he drove passed 3 exits and drove erratically before finally stopping. Odom reportedly failed multiple field sobriety checks, and opted to refuse all chemical tests, according to police.
Leland Tang, the California Highway Patrol public information officer, told Radar Online, "Lamar Odom was driving 50 mph on the 101 freeway. He was driving in a serpentine manner which is pretty bad. That is like when the officer does a freeway break. Across all the lanes of the freeway. I'm surprised he wasn't rear ended."
Following Odom's failed sobriety tests, he was then taken into custody, however reluctantly stated Tang, "He did what no one should ever do, he refused the chemical tests. That means that his license is revoked and Lamar could get the most powerful attorney in the world and he is still not going to have a license for a year."
Odom's apparent DUI arrest comes in the wake of troubling allegations regarding not only substance abuse but also a martial rife. Recent reports claim that Odom has been battling an addiction to "Oxycontin and crack-cocaine" for two years.
In addition, his wife Khloe reportedly attempted an intervention to help her husband with his substance addiction. However, the intervention failed which led Odom to vanish, he was later discovered living in a Los Angeles hotel.
