"La Santa Cecilia" a Latin alternative group has brought the struggles with deportation to the main stage.
"La Santa Cecilia" in collaboration with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and filmmaker Alex Rivera, created a powerful and emotional music video for their personal song, "Ice El Hielo."
"Ice El Heilo" discusses the problem of illegal immigration and displays the struggles through the perspective of undocumented immigrants, who constantly face the threat of having their families separated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The title of the song is a play of the Spanish translation for the acronym ICE.
Making the music video even more impactful is that it features actors who are undocumented, including prominent activist Erika Andiola. A message rolls at the end of the video that tell that informs the viewer that Two of the actors currently face deportation proceedings, along with both parents of actor Katherine Figueroa.
Take a listen to "Ice El Hielo" and let us know what you think about the powerful message and images.
