Kylie Jenner was, recently, slammed for having Stormi wear an age-inappropriate dress at the Met Gala. Some bashers even accused Jenner of abuse, saying she’s depriving her child of a normal childhood.
Ahead of the Halloween festivities, Jenner attended this year’s camp-themed Met Gala with Stormi and rapper Travis Scott, who wore a near-identical copy of her lavender Versace dress. The sparkle-encrusted dress was reportedly inspired by Lil’ Kim’s breast-baring Misa Hylton jumpsuit, which she famously wore at the 1999 MTV VMAs.
Jenner arrived at the Met Gala with a sparkling silver purse and a long lavender wig, which Stormi also sported as she walked the red carpet. After the Met Gala, Jenner shared a sweet photo of her daughter at the event. “My baby!!!!! I can’t handle this!!!,” she captioned the photo.
While Jenner was obviously proud of making her tiny tot her miniature replica, netizens were mostly outraged by the move. After sharing Stormi’s photo on social media, controversy immediately erupted as netizens slammed Jenner for “abusing” her own daughter.
“What have you done to that poor child?” Instagram user harry11hogan commented. Another Instagram user who goes by the name elliebhabie also commented that what Jenner did to her daughter was “weird, vain and creepy.”
Some netizens also noted that Stormi’s eyes looked sad in the photo, suggesting that she was not happy or comfortable being dressed that way. While Jenner’s fans argued that there’s no difference between Stormi dressing up like her mother and dressing up like a fairytale princess at a Halloween party, outraged netizens pointed out that those are two entirely different things.
By dressing Stormi up like herself, Jenner, allegedly, sexualized her daughter. Bashers maintained that dressing up a one-year-old like a grown sexy woman was totally unacceptable because that’s not the go-to choice for toddlers’ Halloween costumes. Others also found the move narcissistic, since Jenner was clearly turning her daughter into her absolute mini-me.
Back in 2018, Jenner and Stormi wore several mother-daughter costumes at various events. Before they wore the controversial lavender Versace dress at the recent Met Gala, they attended two different parties dressed up like skeletons and pink butterflies.
Jenner has yet to respond to the influx of negative comments on her recent post.
