It's safe to say that Carmelo Anthony isn’t thrilled with his Slam Magazine rank on the Top 50 Player List.
Slam Magazine ranked ‘Melo as the No. 15 best player in the league, and the Knick's forward took to social media to voice his displeasure. He replied to Slam Magazine’s Instagram post by saying “slamonline all credibility lost in my eyes.”
Anthony is viewed by many as one of the best pure scorers in the league, but his ranking by Slam Magazine may be justified. Defense, passing, team chemistry and lack of post-season success can all be made as an argument to keep Anthony out of the top 10. Anthony has only made it out of the second round of the playoffs once in his entire 13-year career, and he isn’t exactly getting any younger. Let’s also not forget that there are a lot of other (Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving) players that have graced the game lately who will be featured in the top 10.
Last year Slam Magazine ranked Anthony No. 13 overall, so not much has changed, honestly. The highest Slam Magazine has ranked Anthony was No. 4, in 2013.
The most success Anthony has had on the court since leaving Syracuse has been with team USA. If Anthony wants to prove his doubters wrong and move up in the rankings, he’s going to have to win more- it’s just that simple.
Another New York sports star took to social media earlier this year after he disagreed with a certain rankings. New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. did not agree with the NFL Network ranking him No. 10 overall and No. 3 as far as wide receivers.
