Although "Kingdom Hearts 3" was announced at E3 2013 the title has yet to receive an official release date or even a launch window for that matter. And with the new title "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" coming to PlayStation 3 consoles December 2014 it is more than likely that the highly-anticipated title will be coming after this year. Furthermore according to Breathe Cast the title isn't even on the Japanese game developers list of probable releases this year.
Sony co-director Tai Yasue revealed that "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" will expand on the refreshing characters in the knotty narrative of the series. In an interview with Polygon, Yasue said releasing "Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix" works as a way to recruit new players as well as help prepare returning gamers for the series' next big title, "Kingdom Hearts 3."
"I think it's really accessible for the younger generation, [but] story-wise, it's a bit complex," Yasue said. "By having 1.5 and 2.5, I think it will be easier to play Kingdom Hearts 3 and understand that story. We wanted the players to experience that in HD and relearn it and re-experience it."
With this bit of new information it is safe to assume that the game won't make an appearance until after "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" has been on retail shelves for a while. This is a good way for gamers to get reacquainted with the franchise and prepare for the upcoming title.
Earlier, developer Tetsuya Nomura told Famitsu magazine that most of his time is spent on developing the story for "Kingdom Hearts 3," and was happy about the excitment fans showed over the first scenes of the game. He also mentioned that those scenes were great but still had a "ways to go." So while we have a preview of KH3 the game doesn't seem to be anywhere near complete. Hopefully we will have more information about the upcoming title when "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" launches Dec. 2.
