She's officially Mrs. Blackstock! Kelly Clarkson, the original "American Idol" turned Grammy-winning recording artist, pulled off a quiet wedding to Brandon Blackstock on Sunday in Tennessee, and just a few hours ago, she shared the news with the world as she posted to her Twitter account the following message: "I'm officially Mrs. Blackstock :) We got married yesterday at Blackberry Farms in TN, the most beautiful place ever!" Clarkson had been planning an elaborate wedding up until August, when she decided that it was too much to handle and that she'd rather have a small ceremony.
"We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope.' We just got so overwhelmed by it -- all the decisions," Clarkson told People at the time. She also confirmed it to E! "We had a wedding planned, like a huge one-and we still have a wedding planned, but we're not doing the big huge one. We're just gonna go off with the kids and go get married and it's just gonna be literally, seriously small." Although small, the ceremony didn't lack elegance, and we've put together five things to know about this major event in the singer's life.
1. Kelly's now husband Brandon Blackstock is country singer Reba McEntire's stepson. He has two children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth, 11 and 7 respectively. The couple and his two children already live under the same roof, but the singer is hoping to expand. She laughed, "I want two kids. Two more, that is. I've already got two!" 2. Clarkson walked down the aisle in Temperley Bridal's "Jessamine" dress from the Iris collection. "It was between these three dresses," the Grammy winner said earlier this month, referencing her actual wedding dress and the two dresses she wore for her engagement shoot, which were Marchesa and Monique Lhuillier.
3. The "Already Gone" singer completed her look with a Maria Elena Headpieces headband. She thanked the designer on a tweet posted earlier this afternoon. 4. As for the flowers, Clarkson carried a bouquet of sunflowers and Bluebonnets -- the official flower of Texas, her home state. 5. According to Us Weekly, Kelly is getting her pilot's license and she actually flew the couple in for the ceremony, as her talent manager husband was going to fly them back out.
As for life after the wedding, the newlyweds recently spent $2.8 million on a mansion in Tennessee. According to E! News, the home spans 17,000 feet and includes seven bedrooms and nine-and-a-half baths. The estate sits on a four-acre piece of land and offers its own private, gated entry.
