Singer-songwriter Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom recently welcomed their first child, their daughter Daisy Dove Bloom.
The couple postponed their wedding for the second time, after having delayed their prior plans of tying the knot in Japan, given the ongoing pandemic. But Perry has no qualms about her “very open, very communicative” relationship with Bloom as it is nothing like the “tornado” she endured with her ex-husband, comedian Russell Brand.
Katy Perry was married to Russell Brand back in 2010 but they ended up getting divorced after just 14 months in 2011. To date, Parry has never openly spoken about her ex-husband or the kind of relationship they had apart from sharing back in 2013 that the comedian had informed Perry that he had filed for divorce via a text message on December 31, 2011, and hadn’t contacted her since then. But post-delivery, the new mom is more open to sharing about her marriage with Brand, nine years after they split.
During an interview with 60 Minutes Australia on August 30, the 35-year-old songstress candidly shared about her marriage with Brand. According to Perry, the relationship was the "first breaking of my idealistic mind."
"I was having great success at 23, 24 and 25 and then I met someone that was interesting and stimulating. It was just like a tornado, it was everything happening at once," she shared.
She added that she had always been someone who “resonated with friction and resistance and challenges.”
But when it comes to her current relationship with fiance Orlando Bloom, what they share is “a healthy frictional, very open, very communicative, nothing is swept under the mat type of relationship,” she shared during her chat with 60 Minutes Australia.
"It's like, we should probably walk into the other room to discuss something where we disagree because we'll just do it in public," she said. "But I think if we can get to the ends of our lives together, we'll be each other's greatest teachers."
"Dating is different. Weekend lovers? That's fun, that's candy. This is solid. This is like the main course,” she added.
